Preparation & Application
The surface must be clean, sound, and free from dust, loose particles, grease, oil, primers, and remnants of previous membrane systems or bitumen. Bitumen and primers should be removed using shot blasting or mechanical methods. Any damaged concrete should be repaired by cutting to sound concrete and patching with polymer-modified mortars. A variety of repair mortars and crack fillers from the Aqua Guard range are available for repairing different surfaces. It is recommended to apply polymer-coated construction-grade tape at critical areas such as intersections, corner joints, floor/wall junctions, gaps, peripheral areas, and pipelines before applying Aqua Guard. Prior to tape application, fill and level gaps and corners with an appropriate polymer-modified grout from the Prochem product range.
Saturate the concrete surface with clean water. Apply the first coat while the surface is still damp, ensuring there is no free-standing water. Use a short, stiff bristle brush or roller to apply a minimum thickness of 1 mm per coat. After 2-3 hours, apply the second coat in a perpendicular direction to the first coat (e.g., if the first coat was applied top to bottom, apply the second coat left to right, or vice versa). Spray or trowel application is acceptable, provided the mixing ratio is adjusted for the correct consistency. For application on hollow blocks or highly porous areas, it is recommended to apply a minimum of 3 coats, achieving a total thickness of 3 mm.
Shelf Life
Expiration of Aqua Guard is at 12 months after production date under dry and sheltered conditions.
